Background
Preferred Childcare has provided babysitting and nanny services since 2001. It was created by Megan Metzger based on her own long-time experience as a babysitter, nanny, and music teacher when she saw the need for a well-operated childcare service in the Triad. Today, Preferred Childcare offers a multitude of services in 32 locations around North Carolina by a team of 75 childcare professionals.
The Challenge
While Preferred Childcare worked with industry-specific software before PARiM, timesheets and payroll still needed to be handled manually. The founder and president, Megan Metzger, describes the process: “All of our sitters had a notebook with paper timesheets. They would write down the date, family name, the address, what time they got there, and what time the parents got home. The parents would then sign the timesheets, our sitters would scan them, and someone would manually enter each family's name and the babysitter or nanny’s hours. It took us three days to do the billing and payroll.” Megan continued to emphasise how much her core team worked around payroll and billing: “Our CFO even planned her wedding around the payroll and billing process because it was so labour-intensive.”
The Solution
PARiM Time Clock and Pay & Charge features provide accurate digital timesheets with automated payroll and billing calculations. Megan shared their time savings: “PARiM has helped us save time equal to one full-time position. But what I love even more is how it eliminates human errors. Our invoices used to take three days. With PARiM, we have them done in three minutes.”

Preferred Childcare also moved to more efficient scheduling with PARiM open shifts and shift patterns features. Maraesha Scales, Preferred ChildCare’s Director of People Operations, shared, “We've just started having our employees request to work with the open shifts function. That's been amazing.” We were also happy to hear that our continuous efforts behind the scenes are providing actual value, as she added: “I constantly find something new that you guys can do that’s very helpful and useful to us.”
Megan also shared this view: “PARiM has continued to add more and more to its system that continues to serve more of Preferred Childcare’s needs.” PARiM constantly aims to provide a seamless solution to workforce management, and we were glad to hear that as an industry expert, Megan saw PARiM as the most fitting solution for the childcare sector: “I want to bring PARiM to the whole childcare industry as people are adapting so well to the system while other options are just not as reliable and user-friendly as PARiM.”
